A pack of jackals,
brazen and banner-bearing,
breach the portals of our body politic,
their malignant aim to cancel the common will.

This is what is called Patriotism.

Fantasists, proudly ill-informed,
hug demented notions to their bosoms
like breastplates against reality,
drunk with tribal delusions.

This is what is called Enlightenment.

Enablers — encumbered by neither spine nor principle —
honor the untruthful,
countenance the cruel, and
uphold the unworthy.

This is what is called Integrity.
